Case Study 1
Client "A" is a retailer of car parts. Prior to implementing standards they had a relatively comprehensive set of KPI´s to measure the performance of their DC.
After implementing and using a bolt on productivity module they were able to gain the following benefits:
- increased receiving rate by +5.6%
- increased loading rate by +8.5%
- increased pick rate by +12.4%
On average, a 10% productivity gain was achieved over the whole DC which resulted in a 1 million per annum saving.

Case Study 2
Client "B" was an independent wholesaler of retail products. Prior to introducing labour standards, minimal if any performance measurement methods were used.
At one of the main DC´s for this client, approximately 60 order pickers were used across two shifts, 5 days per week (Monday - Friday) and 1 shift two days per week (Saturday and Sunday) to pick orders for approximately 80 stores.
Labour Standards were introduced, closely followed by a financial incentives program. Approximately 6 months after the standards were introduced, the same DC was using the same number of pickers to pick orders for 120 stores. Overtime had been reduced to a minimum and the viability of closing the DC for one day per weekend was being considered.
The GM Logistics for this company maintains that the reorganisation within the company that resulted in the number of stores being supported by each DC could not have happened without rolling out labour standards first.
